When you let your introverted alter ego speak out
A beautiful and lyrical solo by Arturo Sandoval on "There Will Never Be Another You". Great example of how to use enclosures and outline the chords beautifully.

Giorno's Theme (Il Vento D'Oro) from "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" has a burning sax solo in the fun key of G#m for alto saxophone. The saxophonist is Masato Honma, the same sax player as on the Mario Kart theme. This solo sounds like a cross between David Sanborn and Eric Marienthal if you want to dig into some other inspiration. ➡️If you want to upgrade your playing, click this link to get acces...

When you're casually Cannonballing your way through life

Sal Nistico burned down the house playing on "Sister Sadie" with Woody Herman and his Swingin' Herd. He sounds not unlike Cannonball Adderley but on tenor sax to me. Especially the "bounce" he has in his incredible phrasing. Just watching the end, I wonder if he liked playing saxophone, he seemed not too excited about it to say the least. But I am! What do you think? The original video for this...

When you actually can sing what you play feat. Chet Baker
Просмотров 12 тыс.Месяц назад
Here is a double transcription! Chet Baker scats on "Just Friends" and plays a trumpet solo on it as well, live with Stan Getz in Stockholm 1983. Incredible to see the lines and how it compares to each other. You'll need to do a bit of transposing, I kept the scat solo in C but the trumpet solo in Bb, as that is the common standard for that instrument. You can shoot me later. The full video thi...

I love me some tight knit bebop lines like that. Can you dig it? So nice.
Amazing. The sax chorus next to it is great as well.
I know, incredible! Rip
Every solo on this recording was fire, highkey. Arturo's solo was just next level because I never knew he could play like this.
On my piano it seems like the transcription is up by a whole step, is that related to some concert instrument notation thing that I'm not familiar with? or is my piano just out of tune lmao
Because the transcription is written for Bb instruments, whereas the piano is a C instrument 😊
@@thierrynathan5366 Ok I've never known the difference, thanks for explaining. How strange
Is there a lick or a passage that stands out to you? Let us know in the comments!
Gm7 at 1:10 - Such a versatile lick. Subtle tenor sax in the background, too! What a master, Arturo Sandoval never disappoints.
How nice it is to see and listen to Arturo Sandoval playing something else than A Night In Tunisia, or any other latin stuff !
Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of: "is it jazz or is it math rock"
People freaking out but its nothing new. This is basically a mash of Joe pass, bill evans, sun ra, theo monk. I think the performance couldve been cleaner. He chokes a note or two
The word is Bird!
I dunno why but i'm getting some slight Kurt Rosenwinkel vibes from this.
This shit sucks.
it is music such as this that makes one happy to have been created.
I did know how cool the flute could be since I first heard James Moody in high school circa 1963-4. Loved it then, and still do.😊
Ew jazz
This really doesn't sound good and I like jazz
angela "JAZZ IS STUPID!" dwight "jazz IS stupid" angela "JUST PLAY THE RIGHT NOTES!" dwight *nods in agreement*
What's the quote from 0:25-0:31?
Thanks again, Sharp Eleven! These lines are harder to play than typical heavy metal shredding. Much more melodic, much more syncopated. Improvised, not a showcase solo devised to impress rubes. The typical shredder figures out what's easy to play fast, then drills that stuff until it's REALLY fast, then strings a bunch memorized licks into a solo.
Wow!!!
is there a version for alto sax?
i cant decide if this guy is good at guitar or if he totally sucks
You must not play guitar lol
I just love this. Thanks for sharing.
My favourite sax player of the modern era: also at this fast tempo his lines are melodic and the sound is stunning… a giant!!!!
Not bad, but the guy was flat waaaaay too many times. Not "jazz-scoop flat". Proper semitones at stages. Especially the first half of the video.
Da hat Zahnfleischbluter Murphy seinen Meister gefunden😂
Ooo! Ooo! Me! Me!I did!
AWESOME .
Not true….it is the easiest of the winds
Don't know if that could be considered dancing, looks more like seizures.
Qual o setup dele nesse solo? Alguém sabe? e quando ele tocava com Lionel Richie
What song is this?
He added Give It Up (Or Turn It A Loose) in the solo. A nod to the GOAT James Brown.
wow, at first I thought it was a funny video with some random overdubbed silly guitar chords. Then, I noticed it was the real sound💀
grandissimi
The Phonk Police is already waiting backstage😂
This playing reminds me of Victor Villareal's guitarwork
Man his hand moves like its has a mind of its own. Effortless
1:56
All jokes aside, as someone with no jazz experience my ear has always been able to follow a chord structure. And if you listen you can tell which notes he’s accentuating, it’s a very beautiful song.
How is it possible that he played live even better than in the studio recording?
Best solo❤
What are you on about? This is actually really beautiful
Thank you ever so much for transcribing this. Unkowing of your transcription I had a go at transcribing the two descending chord patterns with the low E pedal. I can see that even analysing his fingers and listening I got it wrong. Similar sounding chords but not quite, so it's great to see what he was actually up to. Yes, challenging hand stretches. I wish I could understand what is going on harmonically. I can hear a lot of modal things going on but can;t quite hit what he's thinking. Amazing. Than you very much again
This is one of the most beautiful songs ive heard, right up there with Portrait of Tracy, or Lateralus.
Couldn’t help it
Just very standard bebop lines….
somehow i didnt notice until seeing him live that his right hand is so close to the neck! such an incredible player & marvel to see play
Great! You might also like my transciptions 😉
This is this is this is this is this is this is
That melody sounds so African, so Nigerian. It reminds me of songs Ive heard so many times, yet it doesn't sound stolen.
